His mother acknowledged his artistic endeavours\nand brought him a blank book, which he referred to as \u2018Diary.\u2019 Keeping diaries\nlater became a prominent habit in his life wherein he saved a piece of his\ndrawings that were very personal to him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite Goa being his birth place, he spent most of his time\nshuttling between Mumbai and Goa. He pursued his career as a cartoonist in\nnow-defunct newspaper \u2018The Illustrated weekly of India\u2019 and briefly for\n\u2018Current\u2019 magazine, after which he worked in \u2018Times of India\u2019 where some of his\niconic characters like Miss Nimbupani and Miss Fonesca were born. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bagging some of national and international\u2019s most acclaimed\nawards, Mario Miranda became an exalted cartoonist in India. His artistic\nvirtuosity remains unmatched to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Favourite Themes of\nMario Miranda<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mario Miranda was a connoisseur of everyday life. He would\nobserve the world unravel from the corner seats of restaurants, streets and\npretty much anywhere life dwelled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These observations were heavily reflected in his work. While they started out with traditional\nmotifs, over time it has reinvented itself to keep in context with the changing\ntimes, unlike most crafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The artists practising Azulejos have evolved their\ntechniques, allowing mass production. Mario Miranda\u2019s caricatures have\nseemingly heavy influence on the modern designs of Azulejos tiles.
